Mother Trees

In yoga, one of our balancing poses is Tree Pose. We ground our foot down into the mat, touching all four "corners" of the foot and balance all of our weight there as the other foot comes off of the ground. Our hands go high in the air and finger tips spread out like strong branches.
I love watching our clients as their strength grows with time and as their trees become more balanced every time they show up on the mat.
This past week as we stretched and moved together, one of our meditations was on the Mother Trees. These are trees that are strong and nourished and have nutrients to give to the other saplings in the forest. There is a lot of cool data around that idea and even a TedTalk that is full of science and so so interesting (How Trees Talk to Each Other, found on YouTube).

Mother's Day is coming up and with it, plenty of emotions. Have we been able to be biological mothers? Has our own motherhood been what we expected it to be? What does it even mean to be a mother? Not to mention our own mothers or the mothers that we have lost... "Motherhood" is heavy with expectation and heartache, in my experience.
This Mother's Day, may we embrace the mothers in our lives. Who are the women who have loved us and nourished us and given us their very own nutrients? How can we celebrate them? Who are the women that we are strong for in sharing what we have to give? How can we spend time intentionally with them this week?
Happy Mother's Day to all of the women who have supported me, loved me, fed me nutrients when I couldn't nourish myself. I am grateful ~ Angie
Book Club - delight peer coaching and yoga
The last Monday of the month we gather for a discussion of our book of the month.
June 2, Monday evening, 5 pm - 7 pm is our next gathering (due to Memorial Day Wknd) and The Power of Moments is our book. You can join at any time! Find the full book list on the blog here.
We discuss the book at a high level (even if you haven't read it, there is a small presentation). Then we do an introspective activity that gets you thinking about the practical application of the book. Next we walk through the delight framework setting our intentions for the month in soul, body, heart and mind. And lastly we head to the mats for yoga and meditation. It's a lovely time together! $50 gets you a seat.
